Description

Hulling fastens insulation to fresh concrete, insulation boards to each other etc. and is easily pressed into the insulation by hand. Hulling, or insulation nail as it is also often called, is usually used to fix two or more layers of foam plastic to each other in a horizontal direction. The nail is pressed down by hand or with the help of the foot all the way through the layers of insulation until the cap reaches the substrate. The nail now prevents the insulation boards from sliding apart and thus forming air pockets and thermal bridges. This can be, for example, when casting a foundation slab on the ground. Hulling can also be used to fasten insulation directly to concrete. In such a case, a length of barb is chosen that is slightly longer than the total thickness of the insulation. The nail is pushed all the way through the insulation until the tip with its small barbs has emerged on the other side. The tip can now be cast into wet concrete, which fixes the two materials together.
