Roslagsmahogany is based on an old Swedish recipe consisting of wood tar, linseed oil and balsam turpentine. When painted, the underlying wooden surface will shine through in a similar way to a lasered surface. Roslags mahogany has no protection against the sun's UV rays. The surface will therefore gradually turn gray. It can also be pigmented with e.g. carbon black if you want a color-stable and darker surface.
Area of use
Roslags mahogany can be used on untreated wood and wood that has previously been treated with wood tar, iron vitriol and sludge paint. It has traditionally been used on piers, wooden boats, boathouses, etc. Roslags mahogany contains linseed oil which, under unfavorable conditions, can cause mold to grow. Therefore, the surface must always be thoroughly washed to remove mold before painting.
Application
Best results are achieved if painting with Roslags mahogany is carried out in warm weather, at least 10 °C. The product will then be easier to work with and will penetrate the surface better. Feel free to stir the can before painting. Rosewood mahogany should not be painted on wood previously treated with other opaque paint types.
Painting
Brush off dust and dirt. Wash off algae and mold growth. The surface must be dry when painting. Use a brush. Can also be sprayed. Paint 2 times for optimal protection.
